Once you fill out the assessment sheet on our website, we will contact you by e-mail. We may ask you additional questions to complete our understanding of who you are and what you need. If we believe that you are a qualified candidate, we will tell you so. At this point, you will have the option to decide what you want to do. You may try to find employment on your own or you may wish to retain our services.
If you decide to retain T&CS Canada to represent you, we will send you our Retainer Agreement and Price List. When the agreement is signed and faxed (or e-mailed) back to us, you may consider us to be your counsel and we will work on your behalf and in your best interests. At this point, we will expect a down payment on our retainer fee. Contact us for information about our placement fees and payment schedule.
The next step will be for you to gather all your educational credentials and professional references and send these documents to us. Without these documents, we cannot prepare your portfolio and will not be able to present you to perspective employers.
When we have all your documents, we will start looking for a matching Canadian employer. We are trying to find the perfect match for you and for the employer - only a satisfactory match will result in a happy working relationship.
You may expect this process to take 8 to 12 months. Once we find the employer that likes your profile, he will get your phone number and will have the opportunity to call you and interview you over the phone. That's when your English skills will be tested for the first time. If the employer is satisfied, we will negotiate a contract for you so you will know exactly what to expect. You will be able to give us your input at this stage.
When the employer and you sign the contract, the next step in the process will take place. Your future employer must apply for approval of the employment offer by the Human Resources and Skills Development Canada. We will prepare this application and submit it to the HRSDC on his behalf. Assessment of this application takes 4 to 10 weeks. If the HRSDC approves the job offer, they will notify the visa office where you belong (depends on your residence at the time of the application). At this point, your application for work permit will be already prepared, the forms filled and signed by you, all the supporting documents attached - all you will have to do is to mail it or bring it in person to the visa office together with the processing fee of $ 150 CAD.
The immigration officer will invite you for an interview if she has any concerns regarding your qualifications or experience. If you satisfactorily address these concerns, you will be given medical forms. Then it will depend only on the results of the medical examination when your work permit is issued.
If you need visitor visa to travel to Canada, you will have to obtain this too -usually, this is done automatically by the visa officer. However, it is your responsibility to check your passport if the entry visa is attached to your passport. The actual work permit will be issued at the time when you arrive to Canada, after the immigration officer at the port of entry checks your documents and decides that you indeed meet the requirements of the program.
