You will not be able to bring your family with you when you receive your work permit. Even if your employer agrees that you may bring your child or children with you, the visa office will not issue a visitor visa for them. You should think before you decide to take this opportunity. Once you are in Canada, you may visit your family during your vacation. Your dependants in Canada can be included on your application for permanent residence and they can be landed at the same time you are.
Your dependants abroad will be processed for permanent residence at the visa office in their country of residence. Their immigrant visas will be issued just after you receive your visa, provided that the entire family passes medical and criminal screening and all other requirements are met. All of your dependants, both in Canada and abroad, must pass medical and background checks even if they are not applying to join you in Canada right away. You cannot be landed until all of your dependants have passed their medical and background checks.
It is very important that you disclose all medical problems you or your family members have before you come to Canada. An attempt to hide serious illness of your husband or of your child may result in a refusal of your application for permanent residence and there will be nothing you can do about it. Think twice before you lie!
As important as your health is your disclosure of any criminal charges or convictions that you or your family members have on their record. Canadian regulations are very strict about letting in people with criminal record. If you have anything to say, please say so before you sign a contract with your family. Failing to do so will result in a refusal of your application for permanent residence.
