The contract: why do you need it?

The contract will protect both you and your employer. In stating clearly conditions of your employment, you will avoid many misunderstandings. You will know exactly what your duties are and what your rights are. Both are important part of the contract. Your wages, your free days, your vacation and sick days will be also clearly stated in the contract. We will make sure that the contract protects your rights as they are defined in provincial labour regulations.

You will have enough time to think about what is important to you and what you would like to have stated in the contract while you are waiting for your placement. Make sure that you tell us. Perhaps you need a certain day off work because your religion does not allowyou to work. Perhaps you need special diet and will not be able to eat the same food as your employer. All these things should be pointed out to us before we start negotiating your contract. It is in your own interest to be as specific as possible. Once signed, the contract is binding for both you and the employer.

You will get your own copy of the signed contract. If there are any problems with your employer, you have the right to ask your employer for explanation or clarification and try to settle the dispute before it escalates to a big problem.

If you cannot settle the dispute, talk to us - we will talk to the employer and try to mediate and find a solution before you decide to quit or the employer terminates your employment.

It always pays to look for advice or help before you do something harsh and regrettable. You should be always thinking about your future and how difficult and lengthy a process of finding a new employer can be.
