Everything else that you may want to know if you want to become a nanny or live-in caregiver in Canada

You should think about what it means to be a nanny or a caregiver. If you have never done it before, try to get a clear understanding of what to expect. It is not an easy job. The work is hard, the hours are often long and irregular and the wages are not that great. Depending on the province where your employer lives, you can expect to be paid $ 7.00 to $ 9.00 per hour. Most families will also deduct flat fee for room and board. Generally, you can expect to get about $ 700 CAD after all deductions (taxes, Canada Pension Plan, Employment Insurance and room and board).

However, it could be also a very rewarding experience and at the end of the journey, you could become permanent resident of Canada, including your closest family (husband and children).

You will have 3 years from the day you arrive to Canada to complete your 2 years of work. That means that if you lose your job, you won't have to leave Canada but you will be able to find a new employer and apply for a new work permit. While this is possible, it is always better to stay with your employer for the full two years. It will, in the end, save a lot of headache and worries.

There are many agencies that provide similar services to nannies and caregivers as T&CS Canada. Many of them are reputable and you can trust them. It is, however, always a good idea to do your homework, check out the agency, talk to its representatives and see how much time they have for you. If you cannot get answers to your questions, you should move on. Sometimes the price is very attractive - think about what is often said: You get what you pay for. Do not compromise - it is your life, your future, and your agency should be your friend and supporter all the way to the day when you become permanent resident.
